Couture without: Needles & threads

The 36-year-old Japanese designer Yuima Nakazato studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium being the second Japanese designer to be added to the official Haute Couture calendar in Paris. Yuima did whole exercise to show that not only the craft is haute couture. He demonstrated with his designs that machines and 3D technology can also make high-quality couture.

Nakazato presented at the Paris Haute Couture Week a unique look without using needles or threads. All based on sophisticated 3D technologies. Fermented substances were used which are transformed into three-dimensional printed fabrics. An exercise in which sewing machines are replaced by modern 3D printers. Although there is also some labor to assemble the printed parts, it is not enough to call it Handcraft. Yuima Nakazato’s collection also has the soul of model Lauren Wasser. Famous model who lost one of her legs due to a heart shock that caused gangrene. Therefore the concept of Yuima Nakazato speaks of regeneration and transformation.
